Money & Mindset Series: How To Navigate Divorce

Whether you’re a child of divorce and you don’t want to see your kids go through what you went through… or not – one thing’s for sure, divorce is still divorce.

Divorce is too common in our society today, but ironically, when you’re the one going through it yourself, it can feel very, very, and terribly isolating.

Therefore, you need to understand how to navigate through all this so that once you’re over it, you still would have loved to maintain your sanity, wouldn’t you?

A Money & Mindset Journey

Divorce is both a mindset journey and a money journey. You’ve got to have both money and mindset intact.

You have to look at the future differently because when you go from being a duo to solo, it’s scary. You no longer have a thinking partner. And even if that thinking partner sucks, you don’t have a thinking partner anymore.

Make sure that everything is in order – from your insurances down to how you are going to support yourself and your children (if you have children with you.)

You need to make sure that you’re financially strong. You need to look at wealth management and cash management. What are you going to live on? Where are you going to live? What are those long term and short term benefits worth?

There’s an awful lot that goes into this.

And on top of that, you got to do self-care, and you’ve got to just make sure you aren’t going to lose your mind in the middle of this.

Forgiveness is a Decision

Part of this entire process is learning how to forgive and be grateful. This won’t definitely happen overnight. But forgiveness is a choice. And once you finally, decide to forgive? Choose to forgive every day.

Ultimately, divorce may seem like a really ugly process, but you have to have hope that there is opportunity on the other side of this.
