How to Build Something That Lasts

Today, I want to talk to business owners.

Specifically, I want to talk to those of you who have family-owned businesses, those who are creating a legacy.

This group of business owners is top of mind right now because I recently had the opportunity to speak to a company, Trade Home Shoes, that was celebrating its 100th anniversary. This is incredible because only 1 in 11,000 companies will survive for 100 years.

The other amazing thing about this company is that they are employee-owned. I believe that they have made it this far because of their “all for one and one for all” mindset. They are all in it to win it for everyone.

After talking with many of the people at this company and asking countless questions, I walked away having learned some incredible lessons. Today, I’m going to share some of the things I learned with all of you.

If you are a business owner or work at a business today, you’ll want to hear this information. You’ll want to share the message with your boss, your managers, and the people in your community.

The lessons from this 100-year-old company will allow and equip you to build something that lasts. Tune in to learn them.

In this episode, you will hear:

  • How to not only survive but thrive as a 100-year-old legacy company.
  • The importance of vision and purpose when building something that lasts.
  • How you run your house is how you run your business.
  • Why having a people-first mindset is crucial.
  • What goes into a plan.
  • The four departments every great business has.
  • How Trade Home Shoes got through COVID without laying anyone off.
  • Six critical strategies for connecting with people.
